Former Hilliard School Bookkeeper Arrested in $124,000 Theft

Investigation reveals 148 unauthorized deposits totaling $124,610 over two years, plus personal purchases on school Amazon account

A former bookkeeper at Hilliard Middle-Senior High School has been arrested and charged with stealing more than $124,000 from the school over two years, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office. Jennifer Lynn Folliett, 46, of Hilliard, was taken into custody on January 27 and faces charges of organized fraud, grand theft, and official misconduct. She is being held at the Nassau County Jail on a bond exceeding $75,000.

Third-party audits conducted over the past year determined that between August 2022 and December 2024, Folliett made 148 separate cash deposits into her personal bank account totaling $124,610. The investigation began in February 2025 after the Nassau County School Board reported suspected financial discrepancies involving school accounts, including misuse of the school's Amazon account.

Deputies accused Folliett of collecting money from various school clubs and activities and keeping some of that revenue for personal expenses. Authorities also reported more than $2,000 in unauthorized purchases made through the school's Amazon account, including clothing, weight-loss supplements, perfume, and a chicken coop.

Investigators said Folliett's actions led to late payments on several school invoices and caused problems for sports teams and clubs whose orders were delayed because funds were not fully deposited. Investigators also noted a consistent decline in reported ticket sales year over year, which they say was inconsistent with the post-COVID increase in event attendance. Folliett's employment with Hilliard Middle-Senior High School was terminated in December 2024 following the school district's preliminary findings.
